Madison is also survived by her mother and father along with her sister, Alexandra Barruso of Nashville, TN, brothers, Austin Dingee of San Antonio, Texas and Travis Dingee of Pleasant Valley. Her love of horses, dogs and all other animals led her to begin exploring college opportunities which would allow her to have a career in helping heal animals. Not only was she a high achiever academically but her quest to excel at everything she loved included other activities such as horseback riding, skiing, snowboarding, dancing, listening to country music and lacrosse, just to name a few. Madison who was in her junior year was an honor roll student at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie after attending elementary and middle school in the Millbrook CSD. He spent countless hours interviewing elders and documenting the immigration of the family from Calabria, Italy to Brooklyn, NY. One could find Vin looking through a microscope or telescope with his daughters, nieces, and nephews. Astronomy, ancestry, and creative writing were some of his many varied passions. He also ran a successful business providing environmental consulting services.Ī mentor to many, Vin was a generous soul who donated his time and efforts to several local causes including the Big Brother Big Sister program and the Town of Red Hook, where he was a member and chairman of their Emergency Preparedness Committee. Vin served as a fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and the Royal Society of Medicine (Great Britain). Vin was appointed by four consecutive NYC mayors to serve on the Board of the NYC Council on the Environment. Following the collapse of the World Trade Center, Vin coordinated a team of exposure assessment experts to help triage the intake of outreach workers. He created the National Lead Abatement Council in 1990 to foster professionalism and industry standards. He served as Chief of NYC Drinking Water Quality in the 1980's, and was instrumental in establishing the water quality standards for the NYC resevoirs. He graduated from Hunter College with a Master’s in Environmental Health followed by a doctorate in Public Health from Columbia University in 1986. Vin had a unique love for science and nature, as evidenced by his well accomplished career.
